Mideast turmoil - Chinese fears !

As the Middle East erupts into turmoil and protesters take to the streets, China's fear of "luan" (chaos) has resurfaced, According to analysts.

There have been whispers of a "Jasmine Revolution" on the internet and although calls for street protests have fallen flat so far. No matter: China appears jittery.
The turmoil in the Middle East hasn't gotten much coverage in state-run media. There have been more police on the streets, dissidents reportedly under house arrest and social networking sites selectively blocked.

Why? What does China fear most?

China has had a history of walling itself from the outside world, fearful of foreign invasion and domination, from the times of the Mongols to the Opium Wars against the British through the brutal Japanese imperialism of the 20th century.

Libya backed by other dictators & war criminals.. - says political analysts

Libya now backed by other dictators, war criminals and democratically elected leaders greedy for power who had turned in to dictators says political analysts.

"There is a natural friendship between all regimes which are into power maximization, that is, regimes trying to accumulate as much power as they can for themselves and their family memebers" according to senior political  lecturer based in Malaysia.

Leaders like Hugo Chavez ( Venezuela ), Fidel & Raul Castro ( Cuba ), Robert Mugabe ( Zimbabwe ), Percy Mahinda ( Sri Lanka ) and Ahmadinejad ( Iran ) are their to lend a hand for downfalling dictator and they avoid themselves from mentioning anything against Qaddafi.

President Fidel Castro said that " inevitable U.S.-backed invasion of Libya by NATO to get its hands on that country's oil is the main intension bnehind ". Then Chavez said if this is an alleged preparations to invade Libya " then it is a madness, and in front of that madness, as always, the Yankee empire that tries to dominate the world, at the cost of fire and blood.". As Gaddafi has invested in Zimbabwe for so many years, Mugabe too support falling dictator from behind. Gaddafi had also telephoned Percy Mahinda again requesting support few hours ago, earlier he had requested support but due to secret incident, air support was not provided. Some says visting done by persy mahinda had brought unluck to the dictator gaddafi. Mubarak had to resign after Percy visited Egypt few months ago.

"I think there is a very good possibility he'll fight to the death knowing he has very few options locally as well as internationally" Barak Barfi of the New America Foundation said.

West Indies team bus stoned in Dhaka

- I  can't believe this ..what next bullets!!!! - Opener Gayle Asks ?

The bus carrying the West Indies players has been stoned on its way back to the team hotel after they thrashed Bangladesh by nine wickets in Mirpur. There were no injuries, the team management confirmed, and both squads were safely back at the hotel but the players were shaken.

News of the incident spread across the world within moments and will raise questions about the security provided to teams at the tournament.

"This is some basterds," Chris Gayle tweeted moments after the incident. "Bangladesh stoning our bus!!! Freaking glass break!!! This is c***, can't believe..what next bullets!!!! Kiss teeth".

The team's media manager, Philip Spooner, confirmed that two windows cracked, but none shattered, and hence no stone made its way inside. "We left the ground, and on our way back to the hotel, a couple of stones did hit our window," Spooner said. "We are now back at the hotel, both teams are back at the hotel and are safe."

The incident occurred after West Indies completed a crushing nine-wicket victory over the hosts in a match that lasted all of 31.1 overs. The discontent among the crowd could be seen when they started throwing the placards that have "4" and "6" written on them onto the playing field the moment Bangladesh lost their last wicket to be bowled out for their lowest-ever ODI total - 58.

The stones hit the bus when it was about three minutes on its way back to the hotel. Spooner said that the team manager, Richie Richardson, would notify the respective boards and the ICC soon. There was no panic, he said. "Just make sure you mention that nobody got hurt, everybody is safe. There is no panic, everybody is fine."

Gayle was not that calm about it. He tweeted again: "This is ridiculous!!! Damn!!! W Cup with so many security an this happen!! Big Joke!!! Trust me I'm not keen here!!! Av (every) players lay flat!!!"

A Bangladesh police official said the fans had mistaken the West Indies bus for the Bangladesh bus. "The fans thought it was the Bangladeshi team bus and they hurled stones at it," Imtiaz Ahmed, deputy commissioner of police in Dhaka, told AFP. "The window panes were shattered, but no one was injured."

Mustafa Kamal, the Bangladesh Cricket Board president, apologised for the incident, but insisted that there was enough security in place. "We are sorry about the incident. This is the first time it is happening here," he said. "Now we will take extra care. Much more security measures will be taken care of."

Kamal said the stones did not come from inside the cordoned-off area, but from far away from the main road. "Enough and adequate security measures were in place," he said. "The teams were moving away from the ground to the hotel, and there were enough convoys. There were three buses: one was a dummy bus and the two others were the team buses. The entire route was cordoned off by the police, and the security was enough.

"Four or five stones came at one go from maybe five or six people standing far away from the main road. All the stones came in at one time and they were coming from far away from the main road. That's why the glass was not shattered. The matter is being investigated. Definitely, they will be able to catch the guys."

Kamal was at the team hotel to meet both sets of players. "Normally we know our crowd, they are okay," Kamal said. "The match was undoubtedly much below the expectation, and the crowd was a little upset. They wanted to show their anger and frustration against the Bangladeshi boys." However, Kamal rejected the notion that the miscreants were actually targeting the Bangladesh bus.

He said the BCB has not received any communication from the ICC yet. West Indies leave the country on Saturday morning.

30 civilians Killed - Attempt by Dictator Gaddafi's Forces to retake Az Zawiyah fails !

 -  Forces attacked us with machine guns and heavy weapons" - Civilian Says

Nearly  30 civilians of Az Zawiyah killed after Gaddafi's forces tried to retake oppostion held town of Az Zawiyah. The oppostion in Az Zawiyah - the closest rebel-held territory to the capital and also the site of an oil refinery - has been an embarassment to the Libyan authorities who are trying to show they control at least the west of the country.

Eastern regions of the country, around the city of Benghazi, have already fallen out of Gaddafi's control after a popular revolt against his four decades of rule.

On Friday evening, at least 12 people were killed and another 10 injured after explosions took place at an ammunition dump near Benghazi. There were conflicting reports regarding the cause of the blast.

Hospital sources said it was triggered when people went into the storage facility to collect weapons, while others blamed pro-Gaddafi forces.

"The two explosions took place at 6:30 pm (1630 GMT). The casualties started to arrive at hospital an hour later," said Idriss Ghazali, a doctor at the Houari hospital.

International court of crimes is about to issue a warrant for arrest of Gaddafi !

Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi and some of his sons of crimes against humanity during the turmoil in the country and may request arrest warrants within months said chief prosecutor, Luis Moreno-Ocampo of the International Criminal Court’s

Luis Moreno-Ocampo will investigate between 10 and 20 people including Qaddafi, members of his family, the foreign minister and the heads of security and military intelligence, Qaddafi’s personal security and Libya’s external security organization.

“Civilians were shot during demonstrations and allegations are that security forces were doing that,” Moreno-Ocampo said in an interview in his office in The Hague yesterday after concluding a preliminary investigation. “We’re focusing on six or seven incidents that are most serious” and expect to request warrants from the court’s judges in a few months, he said.

The uprising against Qaddafi follows the ousting of longtime rulers by protest movements in Tunisia and Egypt in the past two months. More than 150,000 people have fled Libya to neighboring Egypt and Tunisia since Feb. 19, the United Nations refugee agency said March 1.

“The UN Security Council made a decision within two weeks after the crimes and referred them to the court, with no hesitation and unanimously -- that’s amazing,” Moreno-Ocampo said, adding the court can profit from the “huge change” in the Arab world. “Backing of the Arab world is critically important; the rest of the world has to support them.”

The Security Council has imposed an arms embargo on Libya and called for an immediate end to violence that it says “may amount to crimes against humanity.” The council referred the allegations to the International Criminal Court for investigation and possible prosecution.

President Barack Obama said late yesterday that the U.S. and the rest of the world are outraged by the “appalling violence” in Libya. Qaddafi “has lost legitimacy to lead and he must leave,” Obama said at a White House news conference.

The International Criminal Court is the only permanent tribunal for prosecuting individuals accused of war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity committed anywhere in the world. Its first judges were installed in 2003.

The court was established under the 1998 Rome Statute, a treaty now signed by representatives of 114 states. The Security Council requested the ICC to investigate the alleged crimes as Libya isn’t one of the treaty states.

“We always have a mission impossible, we will investigate when no one else investigates or can investigate,” he said. “There will be no impunity in Libya.”

Bangladesh Bowled Out for 58 - What a Shame for the Asia !

Bangladesh's batsmen froze catastrophically in a performance that was a throwback to their years of ineptitude in the early 2000s, as West Indies sauntered to a nine-wicket victory in a contest that spanned just 31.1 overs. As the mood within a packed and expectant Mirpur stadium turned from excitement to fury, Bangladesh shipped all ten wickets in 18.5 overs to be routed for 58 - the lowest total ever made by a Full Member nation in World Cup history.

It was a craven performance in a critical contest. With the permutations in Group B blown wide open by England's loss to the Irish, both teams knew that the winner of this match would have one foot firmly planted in the quarter-finals. However, the cool efforts of Sulieman Benn, Kemar Roach and Darren Sammy - the only three West Indian bowlers called upon - proved too much for a feckless batting line-up that never tried to recover from the third-ball dismissal of its linchpin, Tamim Iqbal.

President Percy Mahinda and Brother Chamal witnesses at White Flag case judges daughters wedding - blatant violation of rule of natural justice !

Percy Mahinda and Speaker of parliment Chamal will be the witnesses at the engaging ceremony of Justice Deepali Wijesundara's daughter on 07th March. Justice Wijesundara is the presiding judge at the trial-at-bar that hears the White Flag case against former Army Commander, War Hero General Sarath Fonseka.

Percy Mahinda had even offered the Presidential Palace for the ceremony but as another special function is scheduled on the day at the palace, Colombo Cinnamon Grand hotel has been chosen as the venue as a result.

Legal experts are of the opinion that the close friendship between High Court Judge Wijesundara, President Rajapaksha and his family members will be a crucial factor in deciding the outcome of the White Flag case which question's the inpartiality of the decesions taken.

Currently Mother Lanka is accused by the international human rights groups of failing to take action against real culprits of human rights violations so far. The international community is closely monitoring the judicial processes particularly against General Fonseka in Sri Lanka. The Commonwealth has meanwhile requested Sri Lankan authorities to allow legal monitors to be present when cases against General Fonseka are heard which is a must as things & happenings looks very much partial towards one side.

President Obama condemns assassination of Pakistani Minority Minister

- President of America on Wednesday condemned the assassination of the only minority Christian minister of Pakistani government calling the slaying of Shabaz Bhatti a "horrific act of violence" -

Republicans and Democrats in Congress echoed Obama's outrage, hours after Bhatti was gunned down outside his mother's home. His slaying came just weeks after the killing of liberal politician Salman Taseer. The two men had pushed to change laws that impose the death penalty for insulting Islam.

"He is literally a modern-day martyr," said Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., at a Capitol Hill news conference.

Bhatti, a campaigner for human rights causes, had been aware of threats to his life. Obama said Bhatti "fought for and sacrificed his life for the universal values that Pakistanis, Americans and people around the world hold dear" — including rights to free speech and religious freedom.

Assailants from al-Qaida and the Pakistani Taliban Movement in Punjab province claimed responsibility, calling Bhatti an "infidel Christian."

Obama said that whoever committed the crime should be brought to justice, and people who share Bhatti's vision of tolerance and religious freedom should live free of fear.

Rebel forces routed troops loyal to Moammar Gadhafi in a fierce battle in BREGA

Opposition backed Rebel forces routed troops loyal to Dictator Moammar Gadhafi in a fierce battle over an oil port on Wednesday in Brega, scrambling over the dunes of a Mediterranean beach through shelling and an airstrike to corner their attackers. While they thwarted the regime's first counteroffensive in eastern Libya, opposition leaders still pleaded for outside airstrikes to help them oust the longtime leader.

The attack on Brega, a strategic oil facility 460 miles (740 kilometers) east of Gadhafi's stronghold in Tripoli, illustrated the deep difficulties the Libyan leader's armed forces — an array of militiamen, mercenaries and military units — have had in rolling back the uprising that has swept over the entire eastern half of Libya since Feb. 15.

In the capital of Tripoli, Gadhafi warned against U.S. or other Western intervention, vowing to turn Libya into "another Vietnam," and saying any foreign troops coming into his country "will be entering hell and they will drown in blood."

At least 10 anti-Gadhafi fighters were killed and 18 wounded in the battle for Brega, Libya's second- largest petroleum facility, which the opposition has held since last week. Citizen militias flowed in from a nearby city and from the opposition stronghold of Benghazi hours away to reinforce the defense, finally repelling the regime loyalists.

The attack began just after dawn, when several hundred pro-Gadhafi forces in 50 trucks and SUVs mounted with machine guns descended on the port, driving out a small opposition contingent and seizing control of the oil facilities, port and airstrip. But by afternoon, they had lost it all and had retreated to a university campus 5 miles (7 kilometers) away.
There, opposition fighters besieged them, clambering from the beach up a hill to the campus as mortars and heavy machine gun fire blasted around them, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene. They took cover behind grassy dunes, firing back with assault rifles, machine guns and grenade launchers.

At one point, a warplane struck in the dunes to try to disperse them, but it caused no casualties and the siege continued. "The dogs have fled," one middle-aged fighter shouted, waving his Kalashnikov over his head in victory after Gadhafi's forces withdrew from the town before dusk. Car horns honked and people fired assault rifles in the air in celebration.

For the past week, pro-Gadhafi forces have been focusing on the west, securing Tripoli and trying to take back nearby rebel-held cities. But the regime has seemed to struggle to bring an overwhelming force to bear against cities largely defended by local residents using weapons looted from storehouses and backed by allied army units.

Pro-Gadhafi forces succeeded over the weekend in retaking two small towns. But the major western rebel-held cities of Zawiya and Misrata, near Tripoli, have repelled repeated, major attacks — including new forays against Zawiya on Wednesday.

"Libya dignity under attack" - Dictator Gaddafi Screams !

Libyan Dictaor says he is just a symbol and power is in the hands of the people during televised address to supporters.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has said that he is not a president and so cannot resign his position, and that power is in the hands of the people, during a televised public rally in the capital, Tripoli.

"Muammar Gaddafi is not a president to resign, he does not even have a parliament to dissolve," Gaddafi said on Wednesday, his third pu8blic appearance since the uprising, surrounded by dozens of supporters in a large ballroom for a ceremony to mark 34 years of "people power".

"Attacks on me are seen by Libyan people as attacks on their symbol and dignity.

"The foreigners want Gaddafi to step down, to step down from what? Gaddafi is just a symbol for the Libyan people... This is how the Libyan people understood it."

The Government is always trying to claim or gain credit of the success of others.  If the match was won by Lions, it is the same leaders who will festoon the players.  We consider this as a very low slung statement by the Government which is incapable of bearing the loss. The Government always reacts in the same manner.  If the prices of commodities increase they put the blame on floods. If it is decreased they acclaim the ‘Mahinda Chintanaya’.

The Leader of the country should make an elucidation to the masses with regard to this statement” said Mr Herath.

UNP too critisized this incident, MP Harshana Rajakarunna of Gampaha mentioned, if some people start believe on what Mahnida Abesundara said, their will be a risk on the lives of both Mahela Jayawardena as well as Thilan Samaraweera.

It is reported that Namal Rajapakse too was behind this mud sligging campaign against 2 Sri Lanka Middle Order batsmans with Percy Mahinda's Matara MP S Jayasuriya. Also now people are becoming aware of the real traitors of the motherland who are tarnishing the  image of Sri Lanka & it's heroes.

Percy Mahinda & his Goverment goons sent Common Oppostion Presidential Candidate, True Winner of the pres. election, the war hero General Sarath Fonseka to jail for 2 1/2 years earlier.

Did MP Sanath Jayasuriya requested Mahinda Abeysundara to attack Mahela ?

It is revealed that Former dashing opening batsman, now a Percy Mahinda's UPFA  MP from Matara, Sanath Jayasuriya is behind the infamous mudsligging Vimasuma ITN programme which accused former captain now vice captain of the Sri Lanka National Cricket team Mahela Jayawardene of match fixing. We too had a dought earlier was this planned by him, but according to another web source, this has being prooved.

Mahela has aleady decided to take legal action against the Governemnt Channel ITN &  Mahinda Abesundara after it implied that Mahela and Thilan Samaraweera deliberately got out in the last Pakistan match where we lost by 11 runs.

It is further revealed that, Jayasuriya was very much upset over the non selection to the World Cup team after even selecting him to final 30. As a UPFA MP, he has the power to force any pro goverment journalist to get his work done.

MP Sanath Jayasuriya had promised mud sligging Mahinda Abeysundara a case of expensive liquor as well as other financial support had the campaign against the Sri Lanka team succeeded and team crashed out of the World Cup at the group stage.

This is a sad thing as one time great player, when get politicized, do not even hesitate to attack their own fellow cricketer...

Mahela to take legal action against ITN & Mud Sligging Mahinda Abesundara

Mahela Jayawardene, former captain who lead Sri Lanka to the final in 2007 world cup now  Vice- Captain of Sri Lanka team had taken a firm decesion to take legal action against Independent Television Network (ITN) for telecasting a programme that accused he had been involved in fixing the match played with Pakistan for money where he got out to Akthar for a very low score.

In the ‘Vimasuma’ programme telecasted after the news broadcast of the ITN, it accused former captain Mahela Jayawardene and middle order batsman Tilan Samaraweera were involved in match fixing and gave away the match for financial gains. Speaking to BBC Mahela has said he had instructed his lawyers to take measures to take legal action against the ITN for telecasting the programme as well as against mud sligging Mahinda Abesundara.

Most of the viewers of our site as well as many other online portal viewers were so sad to here when such a thing was done by a money crazy Mahinda Abesundara. Some suggest that he might have being forced to do such a thing by a very senior player who was in the last 30 but axed from last 15 for the World Cup 2011.

Protest by JVP in Sri Lanka - Is this the beginning of uprise in Sri Lanka ?

Lipton Circus would be another Cairo – says Oppostion JVP Member Tilvin Silva (Sri Lanka)

The protest movement that commenced today would not be the last but is the beginning of the struggle that would end the government and the capitalist system that suppresses the masses says the Leader of the JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe. He said this speaking at the agitation held at the end of the ‘protest walk’ that marched from Campbell Park to Lipton Circle today (1st).

The JVP organized the ‘Protest March’ to demand the government to bring down the cost of living that goes up day by day. The Leader of the JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe addressing the massive crowd said, “The President and the current government gave a promise to the masses in this country in 2005. If this promise had been kept the prices of essential commodities would not go up today. Vegetables would not be so costly. The President, as the Minister of Finance, has increased taxes; has imposed heavy fines. As a result people from North to South and from East to West are distressed.

Pro Dictator Muammar Gaddafi forces struggle to regain control of strategic cities

- Human Rights Groups fears that their will be a possible genocide sooner or later-

Government opponents, the protestors in the Libyan city of Az Zawiyah have successfully repulsed an attempt by crual forces loyal to Dictatot Muammar Gaddafi to retake the city close to the capital, Tripoli, in six hours of fighting overnight, witnesses say.

Tuesday's claims follow reports that government forces attacked the city from the west and the east, and that fighter jets bombed an ammunition depot in the eastern city of Ajdabiya. There was no word on casualties in Az Zawiyah, which is 50km west of Tripoli. "We will not give up Az Zawiyah at any price,'' one witness said.

"We know it is significant strategically. They will fight to get it, but we will not give up. We managed to defeat them because our spirits are high and their spirits are zero."

The rebels, who include army forces who defected from the government, are armed with tanks, machine guns and anti-aircraft guns. They fought back pro-Gaddafi troops who attacked from six directions using the same weapons.

Karu Jayasuriya must be made the interim leader, until Sajith takes over the leadership says Shiral Lakthileka

-The Sajith-Karu combination has given a great strength to the UNPers who are working towards a future victory - Shiral L

Oppostion main party UNP Western Provincial Councilor, Shiral Lakthileka addressing a public rally in Kadawatha on the 27th saturday said that Karu Jayasuriya should be appointed as the party's interim leader in order to re-build the party voter base and to re-unite it until Sajith Premadasa takes over the party leadership.

Shiral Lakthileka further said that if such a move is done, many problems faced by the party at present could be resolved with time and would bring unity to the party without having several fraction with in the party, which is the aspiration of every UNP member opposing the current administration headed by leader similar to a  dictator.

Time is now ripen to defeat President Percy Mahinda's government which is misleading the public, anti-people, swollen headed and unable to understand the problems faced by the people every day. Dowbfall of Rajapakse regime could only be brought down by a people's struggle like those that took place in Tunisia, Egypt and in progress in Libya & several other Middle Eats Countries.

Sri Lanka Wins Over Kenya - Hatrick for Malinga !

-Lasith Malinga the slinger picked up a hat-trick on his way to his six wickets- second hat-trick in world cups ! -

Kenya won the toss & batted first but were bowled out for 142 runs ( Group A match ) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Collins Obuya and David Obuya scored half centuries making it difficult for the bowlers at one stage but non of the other players were able to score double figures, with four batsmen getting ducks.

Malinga got six wickets for 38 runs, he is the first bowler to pick up two hat-tricks in history of World Cup, it was a a one man show as each of his victims got out without the assistance of any fielders. Kulasekara, Mathews & Murali shared one wicket each. He did take another hat-trick (+ another wicket in next bowl !) in 2007 world cup against South Africa.  Sri Lanka reached 143 in 18.4 overs very comfortably. ( Dilshan 44[30], Tharanga 67n.o[59], 27no[24].

Reagrding the R Premadasa Pitch

As we were saying about this so many times, it's nice to see that Veteran Commentator Ramees Raja (One Former Pakistan Capatain) too pointed out that it's unfair for the way the pitch behaves against the team batting second, under lights. Also he said it's not nice to have a pitch where toss is playing the crusual role in the match. He observed this when Dilshan got out with a short pitch dilevary which came in sharply & took the edge when TM tried to play to third man region.

SO it's vital for Sri Lanka to win the toss against Aussies & put a good decent total on board to win or else it will be another match like what we so with Pakistanis.

Gaddafi's forces battle rebels - Protestors repulse the Attack !

- The USA had moved warships and air forces closer to Libya and France had started to send aid to the opposition controlled eastern half of the country -
Pro Gaddafi Fighter jets reported to have bombed Ajdabiya and Az Zawiyah as Libyan Dictator defies mounting international pressure. According to some unconfirm reports several hundred of innocent people have died and injured badly.

Forces loyal to Dictator Muammar Gadaffi are battling rebels in control of cities both close to Tripolo the capital city and far away from it.

Reports said on Monday that fighter jets bombed an ammunition depot in the eastern city of Ajdabiya, while a resident of Az Zawiyah, 50km west of Tripoli, told us by telephone that fighting started on Monday evening and intensified after sundown when troops loyal to Gaddafi attacked the city from the west and east.

"We were able to repulse the attack. We damaged a tank with an RPG. The mercenaries fled after that," said the resident of Az Zawiyah, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of government reprisals.

He said Gaddafi called the city's influential tribal leader, Mohammed al-Maktouf, and warned him that if the rebels did not leave the main square by early Tuesday, they would be hit by fighter jets & he had told the protestors should take responsibility if a Genocide occurs.

"We are expecting a major battle," resident of Az Zawiyah said, adding that the rebels killed eight soldiers and mercenaries on Monday.Another resident of Az Zawiyah said he heard gunfire well into the night on the outskirts of town.
