Court Orders to Postphone Akmeena, Akuressa & Monaragala Pradeshiya Saba Elections !
The court had ordered the relevant authorities to posphone Akmeemana, Akuressa and Monaragala Elections untill the petitions are heard and the verdicts are delivered.
The Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka ordered the postphoning regarding the petitions filed by the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) on the rejection of party nominations to Monaragala and Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabhas as well Independent Group's nomination paper rejection for Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabhas for the local government election.
General Secretary Susil Premajayantha had filed the petitions in the court for UPFA .
All above three nominations were reportedly rejected due to the documents pertaining to the birth of candidates of the lists being incomplete.
but legal experts says that this is illegal. Mainly what they say is, if all parties & Independent groups who's nomination papers that were being rejected, goes to court what will happen ? Are they going to postphone all those provincial council elections ? if so, why didn't the Colombo Municipal Council Election was not postponed when UNP nomination papers got canceled having a similar issue like above last time?
The local government elections are scheduled to be held on March 17.

More & More Rules to Western Province - New ways to Increase Revenue !
According to a daily news paper, the Government is going to charge Rs 5000 ($50) from vehicle owners if they park on pavements. When we spoke to several shop owners regarding this new issue, most of them mentioned that "If we can't park in front of our own shop. we will stop doing business here. We will move to some other place or even to Maldives where we can park our vehicles as well as customers in front of our shops! ". Already the ruling party had sold several valuable land at a cheap rate to overseas firms & individuals to start casinos & hotels.

Sri Lanka will play seven batsmens - Less chances for Perera to play !
The Sri Lankan coach has given some insight into the XI his side will field during the World Cup, saying they would stick to a combination of seven batsmen and four bowlers. since it has served them well in games played on home soil. Sri Lanka experimented with playing six batsmen and five bowlers on their 2010 tour of Australia, with allrounders Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera batting at Nos. 6 and 7, but reverted to a seven-four formula for the home series against West Indies.
"We've got eight batters (in the 15-man squad) and in the last two or three years we've played a seven-four combination with (Angelo) Mathews in the top six being a bowler as well," Bayliss, who will quit the Sri Lanka job after the World Cup, said. "I can't see it changing just at the moment. In Australia we played six-five but seven-four seems to be the way we play our best cricket in Sri Lanka."
That means Thisara Perera may not find a place in the XI,
