More & More Rules to Western Province - New ways to Increase Revenue !
According to a daily news paper, the Government is going to charge Rs 5000 ($50) from vehicle owners if they park on pavements. When we spoke to several shop owners regarding this new issue, most of them mentioned that "If we can't park in front of our own shop. we will stop doing business here. We will move to some other place or even to Maldives where we can park our vehicles as well as customers in front of our shops! ". Also people who will not use pedestrian crossing will be produce in court.
It is learnt that these are going to be imposed in order to increase government revenue as UPFA Government's internal & external revenue has gone down in recent past. Also the funds forcefully taken from KP too has gone down (Some believe that his funds were used in 2010 Presidential Election too).
According to another reliable source, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is definitly going to be sold to cover up the expendicture of the Goverment which consist of a massive Cabinet.
Already the ruling party had sold several valuable land at a cheap rate to overseas firms & individuals to start casinos & hotels.
We will have to wait and see what will happen after the upcoming election...
